Opening Night at Tanglewood

On Friday, July 8, at 8:30PM, Charles Dutoit, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, acclaimed vocal soloists, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus join forces to open the BSO’s 2011 Tanglewood season with an extraordinary all-Italian program drawn from the operatic and symphonic repertoire. The concert begins with extended excerpts from Act I of Bellini’s Norma featuring the young American soprano Angela Meade in her BSO debut. The program continues with music of Verdi, Rossini, and concludes with Respighi’s spectacularly virtuosic and colorful Pines of Rome.

Higdon, Bruch and Tchaikovsky

On July 10, violinist Joshua Bell joins conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya for a program of Higdon, Bruch, and Tchaikovsky, to conclude the BSO's first weekend of the 2011 Tanglewood season.
